Jags power past Pacers

ENID, Okla. — Destinee Lookout, who has committed to the University of Oklahoma, slammed two mammoth home runs as No. 5-ranked Westmoore beat Enid 8-3 in district softball action Tuesday at Pacer Field. It was the Pacers’ home opener.

Lookout hit a two-run homer in the first to give the Jaguars a 2-0 lead and a solo homer in the seventh. She was intentionally walked the other two times. She scored three runs.

Westmoore broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the fourth. Enid, which scored twice in the second, missed out on a couple of scoring opportunities.

“They can do some damage,’’ said Enid coach Marsha Cusack of Lookout and Westmoore. “We had the opportunity to beat them, but we didn’t take advantage of it when we had opportunities to close the door. The kids battled hard.’’

Abby Lee was two-for-three with a couple of RBI and played “a great game in the field,’’ Cusack said.

Olivia Andrews was two-for-three. Haven Bay was one-for-three.

Abby Lewis walked only one, besides the two intentionals to Lookout.

The loss dropped Enid to 2-6, but Cusack was not discouraged.

“It was a productive night,’’ she said. “We made progress. The light is starting to come on.’’

Enid goes to the El Reno Tournament Friday and Saturday. They face Guthrie at 4 p.m. and Northwest Classen at 7 on Friday.

the Sooners walked on water the last night of last season, riding the Crimson Tide to a 45-31 Sugar Bowl victory that fired up the last couple weeks of the recruiting season, carried on to spring drills, inspired the players through summer conditioning, so said the head coach, who has everybody believing for the first time since Sam Bradford went on his Heisman tour that it’s safe to put every one of their emotional eggs in OU’s football basket.
