JENKS, Okla. —  Daniel Martinez’s fourth-place finish at No. 1 singles highlighted Enid’s day at the Jenks boys tennis tournament Friday.

Martinez lost to Ponca City’s Blake Langston, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in the third-place match.

Zach Gwin, No. 2 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Connor Angleton and Ryan Leap both went 1-2. Gwin ended up in 13th, while Angleton and Leap took eighth, avenging an earlier loss to a Bartlesville team.

Tyler Hallett and Brennan Kang went 0-3 for EHS at No. 2 doubles.

“Some people showed improvemet,’’ said Enid assistant coach Carl Gaebler. “It was good to see the No. 1 team beat the Bartlesville team they lost to last week. Some guys are shaking off the rust.’’

The EHS girls go to Muskogee today.

The Plainsmen go to the Norman North Tournament Tuesday.
