Pacers volleyers to celebrate seniors tonight vs. Ponca City

ENID, Okla. — Tonight’s a big night for the No. 14-ranked Pacer volleyball team (15-7), coming off a championship at the Westmoore Tournament.

The Pacers make their first-ever appearance at the Enid Event Center when they host archrival Ponca City at 6:30 p.m.

Senior Night will be observed and it’s Cancer Awareness Night as well. Fans are urged to come in pink. The Pacers will be dressed in pink uniforms.

“It’s going to be a great night,’’ said Enid coach Steve Bloom. “We’re excited to be playing there. We’re hoping with Ponca City being so close, and it being senior night, we have a bigger crowd than usual.’’

Bloom will start an all-senior lineup of Chloe Cordell, Shaelyn Vaughn, Sarah Blakley, Grace Enmeier, Brianna Burrow and Lauren Millsap.

The seniors are the first class Bloom has had since they were freshmen. They have been instrumental in turning around the program. EHS was 4-22 in their freshmen year, but the Pacers were 25-10 last year and are15-7 this year.

“They are a hard-working group,’’ Bloom said. “They have been showing some leadership for our young girls.’’

Enid beat the Lady Wildcats 21-14, 21-17 at the Sand Springs Tournament last month.

The team will be selling T-shirts and decals before the game.
