OBA, Chisholm harriers earn state berths

ENID, Okla. — Blaine Whitson led Oklahoma Bible Academy to  a 3A boys regional title and Chisholm took third in the boys competition and fifth in the girls’ field Saturday at a regional cross country event at Croslin Park.

Whitson finished first in the boys’ 5k run with a time of 17 minutes, 24.41 seconds, beating Chisholm third-place finisher Tommy Greebe by 17 seconds and Jones runner up Tyler Stevens by just over 3.

OBA’s Merritt Suenram finished sixth in the boys field with an 18:02.72, and Chisholm’s Ryan Tom was eighth with an 18:08.69. Chisholm’s boys finished third as a team.

Chisholm’s Kaci McCary and Falon Robinett finished fifth and sixth in the girls’ 3200-meter run to lead a fifth-place team finish.

Hennessey’s Arely Tarango took fourth in the girls’ 3200 in 2A, leading Hennessey to a second-place team finish.

The top five teamsand top five individuals from non-qualifying teamsqualified for next week’s state championships at Shawnee.
