EHS No. 2 doubles team wins 2 matches at Muskogee

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Enid’s boys did see a bit of sunshine among the showers, which caused most of the Muskogee tennis tournament to be canceled Saturday.

The No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Hallett and Koderick Miller won two of the three matches they played, including a 7-5, 7-6 win over a Broken Arrow team.

Hallett and Miller were the only Plainsmen to get to play more than one match.

Enid’s other three divisions — Zac Gwin, No. 1 singles; Jason Christopherson, No. 2 singles; and Blake Young and Connor Angleton, No. 1 doubles only got to play one match. All three divisions lost their opening matches.

“It’s only fitting those two (Hallett and Miller) got to play more because they weren’t together for the Jenks Tournament (March 2),’’ said Enid coach Darrell Herndon. “This catches them up a little bit.’’

The two wins raised the duo’s record to 5-2. They had won the consolation title at Union Monday.

“Winning two close matches like that is a good confidence builder for them,’’ Herndon said. “They were rolling pretty good until Mother Nature shut us down. I just hope we get several inches (of rain). We need it.’’

The boys go to Norman Thursday.
