SALINA, Kan.— The Brown Mackie Classic basketball tournament ended Saturday on a good note for the Northern Oklahoma College Enid Jets (2-0) with a 83-65 victory over Brown Mackie.
Freshmen Kyndall Dudley and Connor Brooks dropped in 15 points each to lead the Jets, while sophomore Xavier McClish added 12 points.
Tied 37-37 at halftime, the Jets posted 46 points in the second half while holding Brown Mackie to 28 points.
With 11:30 left to play and NOC Enid clinging to a 52-47 edge, a skirmish broke out between the teams and play was stopped until the fracas was over.
When play resumed, NOC Enid responded with two 3-point shots in a row by McClish and Dudley and never looked back.
“We defended and rebounded much better in the second half,” Jets assistant coach Ryan Mahoney said. “We were able to make some shots we didn’t make in the first half.”
Twelve NOC Enid players scored in the victory.
“Our depth will be a strength,” Mahoney said. “We don’t have to rely on just one or two people to do the scoring. We are playing good defense and we are getting better on offense.”
NOC Enid’s home-opener is 7 p.m. Tuesday when Hesston (Kan.) comes to the Mabee Center.
