John Chidester (3-0, 4.05) and the Northern Oklahoma College Enid Jets hope to continue some impressive streaks today when they host NOC Tonkawa at 3 p.m. at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
Chidester is going for his third straight shutout after back-to-back shutouts against Independence, Kan., and Carl Albert.
The Jets (15-35 overall and 6-11 in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference) are going for their sixth straight victory. They have outscored opponents 31-8 during their winning streak.
Russ Colgan, who hit his first home run of the season in Wednesday’s game, leads the Jets offense (30 or more at bats) with a .405 average. He has 12 RBI.
He is followed by Korbin Polston (.362, three homers, 43 RBI), Sammy Terry (.321, five homers, 35 RBI), Aaron McCandless (.315, 20 RBI) and Chase Knott (.303, 24 RBI).
NOC Enid beat the Mavericks (4-11 conference and 16-25 overall) 14-4 Thursday.
The two teams conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader at Tonkawa either Saturday or Sunday.
