Dodge City for 2
NOC Enid’s baseball team (4-16) will attempt to break a three-game losing streak today when the Jets visit Dodge City (Kan.) Community College for a doubleheader.
It will be the Jets’ last games before taking off the remainder of the week for spring break.
The Jets lost three of four games in a recent series with Rose State, but NOC Enid coach Raydon Leaton said his team is beginning to show improvement.
Freshman Korbin Polston leads the offense with a .433 batting average with seven doubles, two triples, three home runs and 19 RBI.
Others hitting over .300 are Chase Knott (.345, 12 RBI), Sammy Terry (.333, 15 RBI), Aaron McCandless (.308, 10 RBI) and Dylan Walker (.300).
Dodge City comes to Enid for a doubleheader March 26.
Kilgore passes opening
test at nationals
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Kilgore, Texas, coached by ex-Enid High product Brian Hoberecht, defeated Shelton (Ala.) State 80-58 in the first round of the National Junior College Men’s National Basketball Tournament Monday.
The Rangers (27-4) will face No. 2 seed Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist at noon Wednesday.
Hoberecht was coaching his first game at a national tournament.
Region 2 champion Eastern Oklahoma faces Salt Lake City, Utah Community College at noon today. Connors will face Moltow State, Tenn., at 10 a.m.
Region 2 champion Redlands was eliminated in the first round of the women’s tournament by Crowder (Mo.) College 69-64.
