Pioneer visits Hennessey

ENID, Okla. — Pioneer’s boys  (2-2) will try to bounce back from Saturday’s 54-33 loss to Alva in the OBA Prep Classic finals when they visit Hennessey (2-1) tonight.

Colby Koontz leads the Mustangs, averaging 21.5 points per game, followed by Brett McNaughton (10.5) and Blake Gabriel (10.0). Hennessey, riding a two-game winning streak, is led by Caleb McBride (16.7) and Gage Kroll (16.3).

Hennessey’s girls, under new coach Marty McBride, have started the season 3-0. The Lady Eagles have allowed an average of only 25.3 points per game. Junior Kylee Blehm leads the offense with a 25.7 average.

Pioneer’s girls (2-2) are coming off a 42-37 win over OCS behind a 14-point effort from Rylie Schneider.

Shidler (1-7, 1-7) at Covington-Douglas (4-1, 1-4) — The Lady Wildcats are led by Hailey Kaiser, who is averaging 18.5 points per game, and had a season-high 22 in a 53-34 win over Aline-Cleo Tuesday. Dylan Daugherty has had back-to-back double digit games for the boys, who lost to Aline-Cleo 70-68 in overtime.

DCLA (2-4, 2-4) at Kremlin-Hillsdale (5-2, 4-3) — DCLA’s girls hope to repeat a 33-31 win over the Lady Broncs at last week’s Pond Creek-Hunter Tournament. Chi Anne Jeffries had 12 points for the Lady Eagles. Kremlin-Hillsdale came back to win the consolation championship. Rebecca Wassin leads the Lady Broncs with a 15.9 average.

The Broncs were fourth at the PC-Hunter Tournament. Trey Schoenhals had a season-high 16 points in a 42-38 loss to the Alva JV in the third-place game. DCLA, the PC-Hunter consolation champion, looks to bounce back from Monday’s 55-30 loss to Pond Creek-Hunter.

Dover (4-3, 0-7) at Garber (2-6)— Dover’s boys are riding a three-game winning streak, including a 63-55 win over Union City on Tuesday. The Wolverines broke a three-game losing streak by beating Newkirk 54-31 in the seventh-place game of the Frontier Shootout on Saturday. Caylen Enfield leads the offense, averaging 10 points per game.

Dover’s girls had their second-highest scoring game of the season, but still fell to Union City 57-41 Tuesday. The Lady Wolverines have lost five of their last six. Shealynn Garrett leads the offense with an 11.9 average.
