ENID, Okla. —
Enid’s track teams go to Stillwater today for the final regular season track meet.
EHS coach Joe Miranov said he will use his entire team with both varsity and junior varsity entries.
“This is a reward for the kids who aren’t going to regionals (next week at Claremore),’’ Miranov said. “They might not think it, but it is. This is the last chance for someone to lower their times to make varsity for regionals.
Marshawn Mills, part of Enid’s sprint and 1,600 relays, is expected to miss the meet because of a football recruiting trip to Northeastern A&M.
Mills won two golds at last week’s Yukon Enduro meet, taking the long jump with a 22-2 and teaming with Chris Daniels, Alex Lofton and Rasheem Mitchell to take the 800 relay in 1:31.25
Sam Clemens will take his place on the sprint relays.
Miranov hopes the 1,600-meter relay, which had three wins earlier this spring, can regroup after failing to place at its last two meets.
Miranov said he’s been particularly pleased with the progress of Pacer sprinters Misha Clayton and Anne-lise Schloss, hurdler Rachel Shewey and distance runners Andi Pierce and Tyler Berge.
“Basically, we need to get our batons (on the relays) down,’’ he said. “We want to make sure to get clean handoffs. It should be fairly decent competition down there.’’
