ENID, Okla. —
Connors State bounced back from a 5-4 loss in the opener, to beat Northern Oklahoma College Enid 10-6 in the second game of a Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader Thursday at Pacer Field.
The split allowed the visiting Cowgirls (19-11) to clinch third place in the conference. NOC Enid (18-14) will finish fourth.
Selika Shives homered in both games for the Lady Jets.
Her first homer — a two-run shot in the sixth — gave NOC Enid (37-18 overall) its winning margin in the opener. Lacey Sharp, who singled, scored ahead of her.
NOC Enid ace Summer Leitka shut down the Cowgirls after giving up all four runs in the first. She struck out struck out nine, while allowing six hits and walking one.
Kori Barrios was 2-for-4 for the Lady Jets with a double and two runs scored. Shipp was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Aaliyah Sebock drove in two runs in the fifth with a single.
Taylor Canida hit a three-run homer in the first for Connors, now 35-14 on the season.
The Lady Jets showed power in the second game with three of their six hits being home runs by Shives (her 10th), Shipp (her 14th) and Avery Walker ( her second) and a double by Sydney Harrel.
Connors belted out 12 hits in scorng four runs in the first and fourth and one each in the second and sixth.
Erin Isham hit a solo homer for Connors. Chelsie Drew and Rikki Wooten both drove in two runs. Sam Perry was 3-for-4 and scored twice.
Shives took the loss on the mound, allowing four hits, five runs and two earned runs,while walking two and striking out none.
NOC Enid concludes the regular season with a doubleheader at Butler (Kan.) Community College Tuesday.
