ENID, Okla. — Cold weather put a damper on locally-scheduled athletic events Monday.

Both the Chisholm boys golf tournament at Oakwood Country Club and Northern Oklahoma College Enid’s scheduled softball doubleheader with Carl Albert were postponed because of the weather.

Oakwood pro Tim Mendenhall said the golfers will try to do it again next Monday, contigent on how many teams can make it.

“It wouldn’t have been any fun for those kids to try to play in this kind of weather,’’ Mendenhall said.

The NOC Enid-Carl Albert games at Pacer Field were set back to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Today’s scheduled doubleheader with Murray State has been canceled. NOC Enid athletic director Jeremy Hise said he didn’t expect it to be rescheduled.

Enid’s boys tennis tournament at Edmond was canceled because of the wind chill, Plainsmen coach Darrell Herndon said.

“All four sites (Kickingbird Golf Club, Edmond North, Edmond Memorial and Edmond Santa Fe) were open and there were no places the kids could go into to get warm,’’ Herndon said.

The tournament will not be rescheduled, but a girls tournament is still on for Wednesday.
