Netters take 3rd in tournament

NORMAN, Okla. —  Daniel Martinez got second at No. 1 singles as Enid’s boys finished a strong third at the Norman North Tennis Tournament Tuesday.

Martinez lost to Union’s Bradley Gleason, 6-4, 7-5 for the third time this season, but EHS coach Darrell Herndon said “he just has to beat him once (at state), I think he’s thinking about us now.’’

Enid had 48 points to 60 for Heritage Hall and 58 for Union.

Connor Angleton and Ryan Leap had their highest finish of the season, taking fourth at No. 1 doubles. as did the No. 2 team of   of Tyler Hallett and Brandon Kang, who were fifth Zach Gwin was fifth at No. 2 singles for the second time this season.

EHS players were 3-1 in split set matches.

 The EHS girls go to Norman North Thursday.
