ENID, Okla. —
Northern Oklahoma College Enid’s baseball team will be looking to be make up for lost time this week.
The Jets, who have played only once since Feb. 24, will host 2013 Junior College World Series entrant North Iowa Area Community College in a noon doubleheader today at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
NOC Enid then travels to Cowley County for a single game Tuesday before hosting Des Moines (Iowa) Area Community College in a single game Friday and a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
Austin Hannum (1-0, 3.86 ERA) and Austin Hilton (2-0, 3.21 ERA) are scheduled to pitch today for the Jets.
The Jets (8-2) are led by Jerame Litttell, who is hitting .406 with three homers and 11 RBI. Jared Thompson is batting .400 with five RBI. Catcher Dillon Harp is hitting .312. Russ Colgan has two homers and eight RBI.
Today’s opponent, NIACC (4-4), lost to Division I power Connors State 10-0 on Feb. 16 in Millington, Tenn. They were scheduled to go to Redlands on Sunday.
Sophomore infielder Brett Guba is hitting .545 to lead the NIACC attack.
The Jets were ranked 18th in the last national poll. NIACC was ranked No. 22.
“It will be a good week for us baseball wise,’’ said Jets coach Raydon Leaton. “It will be a good test for us. We just need to play right now. We have played only one game in 13 days, and it’s hard to play baseball that way.’’
