ENID, Okla. — Labor Day won’t be a holiday for the Enid and Chisholm volleyball teams today.

The Pacers (9-5) will visit the Lady Longhorns (5-5) today in the first-ever match between the two teams. The freshmen match will be at 4, followed by the JV at 5 and varsity at 6.

“We didn’t realize it was a holiday when we scheduled it,’’ said Enid coach Steve Bloom. “We decided to go ahead with it. I hope we can have a big crowd.’’

The two teams scrimmaged a year ago when Chisholm’s program was in its first year of existence.

“It’s going to be fun to see the other competition in Enid,’’ said Chisholm coach Megan Middleton. “We’re going to go out and play as hard as we can.’’

Chisholm took 5A power Oklahoma Bible Academy to four sets last week before losing 3-1.

“I think that helped our girls realize we can compete with good teams,’’ Middleton said. “It gave them encouragement for the rest of the season.’’

“It’s always nice to stay in town,’’ Bloom said. “It’s good to see girls from around here. Everybody know each other. That makes for a fun event.’’

EHS is trying to break a two-match losing streak. It’s the start of a busy week for the Pacers, who host Stillwater Tuesday, go to Stillwater Thursday and go to the Westmoore Tournament Friday and Saturday.

“We have to go out there and take care of business,’’ Bloom said. “We have to take care of few of the mistakes we have been making.’’
