OKLAHOMA CITY —
Putnam City used seven falls to defeat Enid 56-12 in a district dual wrestling match Thursday at the Pirates’ gym.
The Plainsmen got decisions from Keegan Clayton at 160 and Zach Overbeck at 220 and Mason Dillard at heavyweight.
However, the rest of the night did not go well for End. The Plainsmen had three wrestlers not make weight.
“It was horrible, that was the worst we have wrestled all year,’’ said Enid coach Corey Clayton. “Putnam City wrestled well. They came out inspired. Once they got an edge, our guys crumbled and fell apart. It was a very disappointing performance.’’
It was Enid’s fourth dual in as many days. Clayton said he expected his team to come out fired up or flat.
“We got a lot of work to do before the regionals if we have any aspirations of anyone going to state,’’ he said.
The Plainsmen host Owasso at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waller Junior High. It will be AMBUCS Night.
EHS hosts Jenks on Thursday.
