ENID, Okla. — Defense was the postgame talk after Northern Oklahoma College Enid’s men’s basketball team’s 91-24 victory over Oklahoma Baptist University JV Tuesday at the Mabee Center.

The Jets (5-1) held the Bison to 12 points in both halves. OBU was limited to eight field goals overall and only three in the second half.

“I know that’s not the most talented team we played all year, but our defensive effort was really good,’’ said Jets head coach Greg Shamburg. “To hold somebody to 24 points, it’s really good, no matter who you’re playing. It got better as the night went on.’’

The Bison were called for shot clock violations several different times. Shamburg was pleased the intensity didn’t ease up as the Jets built their lead.

“That’s something we emphasized, staying focused,’’ Shamburg said. “I felt like we did that all night. They struggled to even get in their offense.’’

Every Jet (13) who played also scored, including John Lazenby (8), Tanner Reddick (3) and DeShawn Dean (4), who scored their first points of the season. Jeremy Espinoza led the attack with 18 points, followed by Connor Brooks with 17 and Andrew Bigom with 11.

“We shot the ball well,’’ Shamburg said. “We got to play a lot of guys and we got to play our zone a lot. We needed work on that. I thought we got a lot out of this.’’

NOC Enid will visit Redlands Monday for its conference opener.
