Area prep football capsules

ENID, Okla. — County

Okeene (2-1, 3-3) at OBA (1-2, 1-5) — The Trojans try to bounce back from last week’s 54-6 loss to Texhoma. Okeene is going for its third straight win. Okeene leads the series, 2-1.

Crescent (3-0, 6-0) at Pioneer (0-2, 0-6) — Crescent is ranked No. 7 in Class A this week. Michael Cronister has rushed for 682 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Tigers, while Preston Walker has thrown for 1,183 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Mustangs’ six losses have come against teams with a combined record of 27-9. Crescent leads the series, 6-0, including a 62-35 rout last season.

Waukomis (0-5, 1-5) at Covington-Douglas (3-2, 4-2) —  The Wildcats have scored 50 or more points the last three weeks. Quenten Thayer has scored seven touchdowns and thrown for nine more. Gage Smith has scored 17 touchdowns. Waukomis has lost five straight. Tyler Terrel has scored nine touchdowns for the Chiefs, four on plays of 40 yards or more. The series is tied 2-2.

Garber (4-1, 5-1) at Laverne (5-0, 6-0) — Laverne is ranked No. 1 in Class B. Five of the six wins have been by the mercy rule. Garber tries to bounce back from a 42-16 loss to Pond Creek-Hunter. The series is tied 4-4 with Laverne winning the last two meetings.

Kremlin-Hillsdale (2-2, 2-4) at Timberlake (2-2, 2-4) — This game could have playoff implications in District C-3. Both teams are coming off losses — Kremlin-Hillsdale, 45-0 to Tyrone and Timberlake, 52-30 to Carney. Timberlake leads the series, 4-2 and has won the last three meetings.

Anadarko (3-0, 6-0) at Woodward (2-1, 3-3) — Anadarko is ranked No. 3 in 4A after upsetting previously No. 2-ranked Clinton, 28-21 last week. Woodward is riding the momentum of a 37-35 win over Elgin on a 27-yard Jesus Munoz field goal. Woodward has won the last two games in the series, 21-12 in 2004 and 33-27 in 2005.

Kingfisher (3-0, 6-0) at Centennial (0-2, 1-5) — Kingfisher is ranked No. 2 in Class 3A. Landon Nault has rushed for 490 yards and five touchdowns for the Yellowjackets. Kingfisher has shut out four opponents this season. Centennial has lost three straight. Kingfisher leads the series, 2-0.

Alva (3-0, 5-1) at Newkirk (1-1, 3-3) — Tanner McGehee has rushed for 811 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Goldbugs, who have won five straight and have scored 50 or more points in their last four games. Ty Hooper has thrown for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns. Alva leads the series, 8-2 since 1994.

Pawnee (0-3, 1-5) at Hennessey (2-0, 4-2) — Dylan Hatchel has thrown for 625 yards and six touchdowns for the Eagles, while Levi Hill has rushed for 708 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hennessey is ranked No. 2 in 2A. Pawnee has scored only 25 points during a four-game losing streak.

Fairview (3-0, 6-0) at Mooreland (2-1, 5-1) — Fairview is ranked No. 12  in 2A. The Yellowjackets are trying to reach 7-0 for the first time since 2002. Grant Nightengale has thrown for 1,402 yards and 15 touchdowns and has rushed for 533 yards and 10 scores. A win would assure Mooreland of its first winning season since 2005. The series is tied 4-4 since 1976, but the Yellowjackets have won four of the last five meetings.

Cashion (2-0, 6-0) at Watonga (3-0, 4-2) — Cashion is ranked No. 5 in Class A, while the Eagles are ranked No. 12. Wildcats quarterback Ty Reasnor has thrown for 1,208 yards and 15 touchdowns. T.J. Martin has rushed for 501 yards and nine scores. A Cashion win would set up a showdown with No. 7 Crescent next week. Watonga has won three straight. Cashion leads the series, 3-1, including a 36-28 win last year.

Hollis (2-0, 5-0) at Thomas (3-0, 6-0) — Thomas is ranked No. 3 in Class A while Hollis is ranked No. 9. Thomas has allowed only four touchdowns the last five weeks.
