ENID, Okla. — Enid Greybeards host

tailgate party tonight

The Enid Greybeards are hosting a tailgate party tonight before the Enid vs. Tulsa Union  football game. They will be serving hamburger or hot dog baskets, which includes chips, cookie and a drink for $5 from 5:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. north of Selby Stadium on Iowa Street. All Plainsmen fans are invited.

 Premium parking also is available for $10 beginning at 5:15 on the practice field just west of the stadium. All proceeds benefit the Enid football program.

Cowboys, KU favored

in Big 12 basketball

STILLWATER (AP) — Oklahoma State and Kansas share the role of favorites to win the Big 12 basketball title in a preseason coaches’ poll.

OSU and Kansas each received five first place votes and 77 overall points in the voting by the league’s 10 head coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team.

Baylor is picked to finish third in the poll released Thursday with Iowa State fourth while Oklahoma and Kansas State tied for fifth.

West Virginia, Texas, Texas Tech and TCU round out the poll.

Ringwood boosters

golf tournament Oct. 26

The Ringwood All-Sports Boosters will hold a four-man scramble at 8 a.m. Oct. 26 at Turkey Creek Golf Course in Hennessey.

Cost is $250 per team. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. A meal will be serve after the tournament.

All proceeds will go toward the Ringwood athletic department.

Koehn Sun Belt

runner of week

Former OBA runner Shaun Koehn of Arkansas-Little Rock has been named the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Koehn had a personal best time of 25:41.1 in finishing 44th at the recent Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.

Thunder waive Orton

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma City Thunder waived center Daniel Orton on Thursday.

Orton played in 13 games with the Thunder during the 2012-13 season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.0 minutes. He had six points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 19 minutes during a preseason game.

Kingfisher beats Bears

OKLAHOMA CITY — Landon Nault rushed for 132 yards and scored on runs of five and one yards as Kingfisher beat John Marshall 54-16 Thursday. Quarterback Docker Haub threw for two scores and ran for another. The Bears did break a string of three straight shutouts by the KHS defense.
