Pacers go 1-1 in tournament

ENID, Okla. — Marybel Garcia went the distance as Enid beat Northwest Classen 7-1 at the El Reno Tournament Thursday.

The Pacers (3-7) opened the day by losing to Guthrie 6-5. Six errors proved costly for EHS.

The Pacers, down 6-0 at one point, battled back to within one run and had left two runners in the seventh in the loss to the Bluejays.

Haven Bay went two-for-three with an RBI to lead the Pacer attack against Northwest. Shelley Mueller had two RBI. Abby Lee and McKayla Hurst both had RBI as well. Garcia went the distance for the first time in her varsity career and threw well (six hits), EHS coach Marsha Cusack said.

Cusack said she was pleased with the way her team battled, especially the freshman, against Northwest.

Enid, the defending tournament champion, faces Noble at 11 a.m. Saturday.
