Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY — Craig Aikin lined a two-out RBI single to left field in the top of the 11th inning, lifting Oklahoma into the Big 12 championship game with a 7-6 win Saturday against regular season champion Kansas State.

The Wildcats (41-17) scored four times in the ninth and Big 12 player of the year Ross Kivett answered Matt Oberste’s RBI single in the 10th with one of his own. But after K-State loaded the bases with one out in the 11th, Kyle Hayes came in to strike out Mitch Meyer and Alex Bee to earn his first save.

Meyer’s two-out, two-run single off closer Jacob Evans tied it in the ninth. Ralph Garza Jr. (5-1) pitched the 10th and left with the bases loaded in the 11th.

Garrett Carey had a three-run double and Anthony Hermelyn had two RBI for the fourth-seeded Sooners (39-19).

Jake Matthys (8-1) took the loss after four innings of relief.

The Sooners will face Kansas at 1 p.m. today for the championship. The game can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma Plus (channel 73, Suddenlink)

Jayhawks blank TCU

Michael Suiter hit a two-run home run and four Kansas pitchers combined on a shutout as the Jayhawks beat TCU 4-0 Saturday night to reach the Big 12 championship game.

Robert Kahana (5-1) threw six shutout innings and Jordan Piche earned his 12th save after 2 1-3 innings of relief as sixth-seeded Kansas (34-24) earned a spot against No. 4 seed Oklahoma in Sunday’s title game.

Kevin Kuntz had an RBI single in the third, and Alex DeLeon doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. Suiter tacked on his first home run in the seventh off Alex Young.

Cody Jones had three singles for TCU (29-28), which was eliminated from championship contention before the game started.

Horned Frogs starter Andrew Mitchell (1-2) gave up two hits and one run in five innings.

West Virginia rallies past OSU

Jacob Rice singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning and West Virginia beat Oklahoma State 6-5 on Saturday. Kansas’ win over TCU knocked West Virginia from reaching the title game.

The third-seeded Mountaineers (33-26) trailed 5-0 before scoring five times in the sixth. Ryan Tuntland had a two-run single before Ryan McBroom and Brady Wilson hit back-to-back home runs to tie it.

Randy McCurry hit a two-run home run for the second-seeded Cowboys (39-17), who were winless at the tournament despite leading all three games.

Corey Walter (5-5) threw four scoreless innings of relief for West Virginia.

Oklahoma State closer Brendan McCurry (6-3) took the loss.

The Cowboys had the bases loaded in the eighth, only to see Donnie Walton ground into an inning-ending double play. West Virginia left two runners on in the ninth.

OSU will learn if it made the NCAA Tournament when the pairings are announced Monday. The Cowboys have lost four straight games.

Texas Tech downs Baylor behind Proudfoot

Tim Proudfoot singled twice, doubled and drove in five runs to lead Texas Tech to an 8-2 win against Baylor in the Big 12 baseball tournament.

Proudfoot’s RBI single in the fifth inning tied Saturday’s game at 2, and the eighth-seeded Red Raiders (26-30) took their first lead on Bryant Burleson’s RBI single two batters later. Proudfoot added a two-run double in the sixth and a two-run single in the eighth.
