Missouri Western

TONKAWA — Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa men’s basketball coach Brett Wieberg has been named the new head coach at NCAA Division II Missouri Western State University.

Wieberg had been the Mavericks’ head coach since 2006 when he succeeded his father, Mick Wieberg, after serving as an assistant at NOC Tonkawa.

In seven seasons at NOC Tonkawa, Wieberg posted 125 victories, including leading the Mavs to a 24-7 record and the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship this past season. Wieberg also played for two seasons under his father at NOC Tonkawa, leading the Mavericks to two conference titles. He went on to play at Division I Sam Houston State. Wieberg succeeds Tom Smith who retired after 25 seasons as head coach at Missouri Western.
