NOC Enid stays hot

— SEMINOLE – Xaview McClish’s running layup as time expired propelled Northern Oklahoma College Enid to a 68-67 comeback win on the road at Seminole Monday night in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In the women’s game, the Lady Jets won their 11th straight, defeating Seminole ,77-65

Trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half, the Jets trailed 67-66 with 39.2 seconds remaining with Seminole in possession.

However, the Jets defense forced a shot clock violation and took possession with 4.2 seconds reamaining, setting up McClish’s late game heroics as the sophomore avoided a half-court trap and moved in for the winning basket, laying it in over the top of the rim.

“It came down to heart and toughness,” said Jets assistant coach Ryan Mahoney. “We started playing hard in the second half.”

The victory was the fifth straight for the Jets (16-6, 8-3), and eighth in their last 10 games and secured sole possesion of second-place, one game behind Eastern.


Northern Oklahoma College Enid Lady Jets also continued their winning ways Monday, claiming their 11th straight victory, 77-65 over Seminole in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

The 8th-ranked Lady Jets now are 20-2 overall and 11-0 in conference play and opened up a three-game lead over second-place Seminole with Monday’s win.

NOC Enid was led in scoring by sophomore Ashyln Briegge’s game-high 29 points.

“She (Briegge) attacked the basket really well tonight,” said Lady Jets assistant coach Josiah White. “She went to the rim and finished. She delivered.”

The Lady Jets also dominated the glass, outrebounding Seminole 41-22.

Chelsea Bates added 14 points and Marisha Wallace contributed 13 points in the victory.

NOC Enid returns to the Mabee Center Thursday for a women’s-men’s doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. against rival NOC Tonkawa. There will be a shootout at halftime of the men’s game sponsored by State Farm where a fan can win $100 by sinking a free throw, 3-point shot and layup in 35 seconds.
