Stacked field awaits Plainsmen at Gladys Winters

ENID, Okla. — Two 6A top-five teams, two more in the top 15, and of course, Enid.

The Plainsmen — the only unranked team, and the only one with a losing record in the Gladys Winters Tournament field — have their hands full when the 2013 round-robin event opens Thursday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

Awaiting Enid (5-9, 2-4 in 6A-4 play) are No. 14 Putnam City North, ninth-ranked rival Stillwater, district foe No. 5 Tulsa Union and Yukon, the third-ranked team in the poll.

The Plainsmen play in the tournament’s first game at 4 p.m. today against Stillwater and in the 8 p.m. nightcap against Union, which swept Enid the last time the two played at David Allen in a March 15 doubleheader.

Enid plays Putnam City North at 6 p.m. Friday and will wrap the tournament in its final game, 4 p.m. Saturday against Yukon.

Two of the tournament’s games will be played in Yukon. The Millers host Putnam City North at 4 p.m. Thursday and host Stillwater at 6 p.m. Friday. 졘
