Pacers softball falls 10-0 at Owasso

OWASSO, Okla. — The Enid Pacers softball team suffered its first loss of the season, 10-0 at Owasso on Thursday.

The Pacers (1-1) fell behind early in the contest after a scoreless first inning when the Lady Rams pushed four runs across the plate after starting the inning with a walk, a double and a single.

“Things just kind of got away from us in the inning and they started rolling,” said Pacers head coach Marsha Cusack.

The Lady Rams added a single run in the third inning, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to record the run-rule district victory.

Pacers’ pitcher Ally Lewis struck out four batters in  taking the loss. Owasso had 13 hits in the contest.

“Ally threw well,” Cusack said. “The numbers are deceiving.

“We knew we had to outhit them, but could not do it,” Cusack said. “Owasso is one of the top two, three or four teams in the state and they played like it.”

The Pacers continue on the road, heading to the Broken Arrow tournament today and Saturday. Enid will play Tulsa Union, Tahlequah and Choctaw today before concluding with two more games on Saturday.

“We’ll compete,” Cusack said. “Nobody is going to run us over.”
