Majors returning to league play today

ENID,Okla. — The Enid Majors, after a rare day off, go to Lawton today for two games.

Enid (23-8) plays Les Beckham League foe Southwest Shockers at 4 p.m. and the Oklahoma Ambassadors at 6 p.m. at Eisenhower High School.

Both games are scheduled for seven innings.

The Majors lead the the Beckham League with a 6-1 record, including a sweep of the Shockers, 4-3 and 2-1 on June 10. They beat the Shockers 7-5 in Lawton June 3.

The Ambassadors are a traveling team in memory of the late Justin Sullivan of Yukon.

“They always have a good team,’’ said Enid coach Chris Jensen.

The Majors will pitch Jesus Gamez in the first game. Jensen said he was undecided on his starter in the second game.

Gamez struck out all three batters he faced in a 4-1 win over Hutchinson, Kan., Sunday.

Enid begins a three-game home series with Bartlesville on Friday. They go to the Bartlesville Tournament July 3-7.

Minors host Sandlot

The Enid Minors (12-14) host Les Beckham League opponent Oklahoma City Sandlot in a 6 p.m. doubleheader today at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

The Minors are coming off a split of a doubleheader with the Woodward Minors.

The Minors are 2-2 in league play. The Sandlot is 1-2. Enid has won nine of its last 15 games.

They  visit the Southwest Shockers Wednesday before going to the Stillwater Tournament Thursday.�
