Enid Minors sweep Woodward Minors

ENID, Okla. — Jake Nicholas and Bobby Russell combined for a two-hitter as the Enid Minors beat the Woodward Minors 12-0 Wednesday to complete a sweep of a doubleheader at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

The Minors, 9-12, won the first game 3-2 as Bates Enmeier and Logan Christensen both had RBI.

Nicholas allowed two hits over four innings. Russell struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.

Enid won the game on the rule-rule with six runs in the second and two each in the first, third and fourth.

“We’re really playing well,’’ said Minors coach Seth Sturgeon. “Things are beginning to come together for us.’’

The Minors pulled off a triple play in the third inning.

Tanner Black, Enmeier and Tannr Fore all had two hits. Jonny Chavez and Edgar Cierro added RBI.

Fore was the winning pitcher in the first game. He allowed only two hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings of relief. Enid scored all three of its runs in the fourth. Woodward scored both of its runs in the first.

Enid will host Harrison, Ark., at 6 tonight at David Allen.
