Devils, Panthers roll

RINGWOOD, Okla. — Ringwood junior quarterback Eudaldo Gomez couldn’t have looked much better in his first official start at the position.  Gomez completed all four of his passes for 167 yards and two scores and carried the ball nine times for 225 yards and three more touchdowns as Ringwood outpaced Covington-Douglas 58-14 in the first half and kept distance late to win, 84-36.

“I guess he did about as good as he could have,” Ringwood coach Rustin Donaldson said.

Israel Rodriguez added 11 carries for 191 yards and three touchdowns in his first game as a running back for the Red Devils, who racked up 596 yards to improve to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in district play.

Covington-Douglas’ Hunter Carl threw three touchdown passes and scored once on the ground for the Wildcats, who fell to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in district games.

PC-Hunter 50, Waukomis 0

Pond Creek-Hunter’s Trenton Grimes scored on runs of 6, 18 and 31 yards to open scoring and the Panthers never looked back, beating Waukomis 50-0 by mercy rule in the third quarter.  All seven of PC-Hunter’s touchdowns came on the ground, putting the Panthers momentarily alone atop B-1 at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in district play.

The Panthers, who have allowed only six points from opposing teams this season, will have at least a tie for first entering the weekend, depending on the results tonight from fellow district unbeatens Laverne (at Medford) and Merritt (at Canton).

Waukomis falls to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in district play.

Two games, just over 12 percent of the 16-game regular season. Two games for hitting a woman hard enough to knock her out cold.
Rice said Monday he will not appeal his suspension, which could wind up costing him $529,411 in fines and salary. And why wouldn’t he? He must feel like he got off scot-free.
