Enid Minors split twinbill

ENID, Okla. — Enid Minors split a doubleheader with the Woodward Minors Sunday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

Enid won the first game 4-2, despite making six errors. Woodward held off a late Enid rally to win the nightcap 6-5.

Kyle Callaway and Tanner Fore combined for a two-hitter in the opener which overcame the faulty defense, Minors coach Zach Gonzalez said.

“It was a miracle that we won that first game,’’ he said. “You don’t find too many teams that have six errors and give up only two runs. Callway did a good job getting out of jams and Tanner Fore threw well.’’

Fore threw the last four innings for the Minors.

Braden Rogers had a two-RBI double.

In the second game, Enid — down 6-4 — had the bases loaded with one out in the seventh. A fielder’s choice brought in one run, but the game ended on a fly out.

Tanner Black led a six-hit Enid attack with a two-RBI double. Woodward only had three hits, but took advantage of three Enid errors.

The Minors, 12-14, will host Les Beckham League opponent OKC Sandlot in a 6 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday.
