Mark Boyd to coach OBA baseball

Oklahoma Bible Academy athletic director Mark Boyd only had to look in the mirror to find the Trojans’ new baseball coach.

He named himself to replace veteran coach Jeremy Kliewer, who resigned after the season to join the staff at Crossings Christian in Oklahoma City.

“I would rather had Sparky Anderson, but he wasn’t available,’’ said Boyd about the late Reds and Tigers manager.

Boyd, OBA’s football coach, coached most of the Trojans in youth leagues.

All of OBA’s starters are returning including Boyd’s son, Baylor, a junior.

“It’s going to be tough replacing coach Kliewer, but I known these kids since they were young. They will know what to expect from me. We get along. I’ve coached most of them in football. I want them to succeed, so I’m going to try to stay out of the way. They know what they are doing.’’

He has hired former Pond Creek-Hunter and Northern Oklahoma College pitcher Nathan Nance as an assistant.
