Sports briefs for 7-28-13

ENID, Okla. — Olympic medalist to

conduct clinic Friday

Olympic bronze medalist Coleman Scott will conduct a wrestling clinic at Emerson Middle School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

The clinic, which is open to all wrestlers, is expected to draw participants from Woodward, Blackwell and Kingfisher among other places.

Scott, an NCAA champion and four-time All-American at Oklahoma State, will be joined by OSU’s Obe Blanc, a current U.S. world team member and NCAA All-American, and John Morrison, another All-American.

“We’re fortunate to have wrestlers of this caliber come here,’’ said Enid wrestling coach Cory Clayton.

Cost for the clinic, sponsored by Edward Jones, is $25 and includes lunch.

Today deadline for

YMCA swim lessons

Today is the deadline to register for swim lessons at the Denny Price Family YMCA. Classes  will begin Monday and run through Aug. 8.

All classes have certified instructors with lifeguards on duty. Preschool classes have a 4-1 student-instructor ratio. Youth classes have a 5-1 ratio.

Autism swim classes also are available. There are four classes available. Students are one-on-one with their instructor.

Gary Young aces No. 8

hole at Oakwood CC

Gary Young had a hole-in-one on the No. 8 hole at Oakwood Country Club Saturday. He used an six-iron. He was playing with John Kang, Wade Burleson and Tim Collins.
