ENID, Okla. — TB Trucking captures

coed softball qualifier



TB Trucking of Woodward defeated the Chicks-N-Sticks of Perry in the finals of the District 2 coed slow pitch softball qualifier Saturday night at Kellet Park.

Chicks-N-Sticks beat TB Trucking in the first championship game, to force a second final in the double-elimination tournament.

Both teams will go to the Class C state tournament in Weatherford Aug. 9-11.

Going to the D state at Ardmore the same weekend are Teddie & Bears, Rejects, Son of Pitches, Terminators and Wings.

Bound for the Class E state at Weatherford are Wolf Pack and Bottoms Up. Kickbacks and Platinum will go to the Class F state at Weatherford.



Myers opens play

at state amateur



Kingfisher’s Heath Myers, who teamed with Keith Campbell to win last spring’s Dick Lambertz Memorial Enid Fourball, will be facing Poteau’s Lyle Whitworth in the first round of the men’s state amateur at 8:35 a.m. today at the Oklahoma Golf and Country Club.

Whitworth is the No. 26 seed in the 64-player field. Myers is No. 39.

The winner faces the winner between No. 7 seed Mason Overstreet of Laverne and No. 58 seed Preston Crawford of Tulsa at 12:44 p.m. today in the second round.

Both Myers and Overstreet qualified at Lincoln Park West last week.Overstreet had a six-under par 65 to tie for sixth. Myers had a two-under 69 to tie for 25th.
