Prom, weather give Acers a week off

All the Enid girls tennis team got for waking up before 5 a.m. Tuesday was seeing a lot of wet weather at the Union Tournament.

The tournament was called off after a misty drizzle came down all morning.

“This stuff doesn’t show up on radar,’’ said Enid head coach Darrell Herndon. “We drove through it all the way home.’’

The Acers and Plainsmen will not go to the Shawnee Tournament this weekend as scheduled because it conflicts with the school’s prom.

Enid’s girls won’t play again until the regional tournament Monday at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

“We were disappointed not to play today,’’ Herndon said. “However, this will give them a little more rest. They are a little tired. This will give them a full week to recover where hopefully they will be hungry to compete on Monday.’’
