Plainsmen rained out
at Edmond Festival
EDMOND — The Enid High School baseball team’s final game in the Edmond Memorial Festival was rained out Saturday.
The Plainsmen (3-9) were scheduled to play Putnam City North. The team’s next game, weather permitting, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday against visiting division foe U.S. Grant at David Allen Memorial Ballpark, followed by a junior varsity game.

to Hoop Shoot Nationals
DALLAS — An Enid third-grader will compete in the national final of the Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot next month in Springfield, Mass.
Taurion Sullivan hit 24 of 25 shots Saturday in Dallas to earn a berth in the national final April 10 in Springfield, Mass., with a chance to have his name displayed at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Sullivan, a 9-year-old third-grade student at Taft Elementary, hit 25 of 25 shots from 11 feet in a local contest in Enid and a regional contest in Kingfisher. Sullivan then advanced from a state competition in Sapulpa last month to the regional competition Saturday in Dallas.

Highlights of the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame Induction banquet will be shown at 10:30 tonight on the Oklahoma High School Sports Express on KOKH (Channel 8, Suddenlink).
Former Enid High football coach Tom Cobble, Current Chisholm assistant and former Watonga track and cross country coach Jim Coleman and Blaine Stone, who coached at a number of area schools, were among the inductees.
Okarche’s Rae Grellner will be shown performing the national anthem on her violin before helping the Lady Warriors win the Class A state championship game.
Highlights of the Class 4A wrestling tournament will be shown.
EJRT Colts to hold
car wash Saturday
The EJRT Enid Colts football team will be conducting a series of car washes beginning at 9 a.m.Saturday at Jumbo Foods East, located at 221 S. 30th. Proceeds will go toward equipment upgrades and player fees.

The Mid-America Nationals, set for today and Saturday at the Enid Event Center, could be a breakthrough weekend for wrestling locally.
Plainsmen fall on late whistle; Pacers win third straight
Matt Alberty stepped to the free-throw line and put Tahlequah’s near-collapse to rest on Thursday. The senior guard sank one of two free throws to give Tahlequah the lead in what ended up being a 59-57 victory for the Tigers over Enid in the opening round of the 2013 Tahlequah Tiger Invitational at the Tahlequah Multipurpose Activity Center.
High School Heisman candidate Nault skips ceremony for Seminole
Kingfisher’s Landon Nault will miss the Wendy’s High School Heisman ceremonies tonight because the Yellowjackets (13-0) will be facing Seminole (13-0) in the weather-delayed Class 3A football semifinals at 7 p.m. at Choctaw High School.
