Cherokee Strip Tournament briefs


ENID, Okla. — MEDFORD 45, RINGWOOD 42 (Boys)

Rob Webb scored a game-high 16 points, and Medford held off Ringwood 45-42 in Thursday’s opening round during the Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center.

The teams had ideal scoring in the second (7), third (5) and fourth (24) quarters, Medford’s three-point final margin being made with a 9-6 first-quarter advantage.

Kenny Thompson added 14 for the Cardinals, and Tony Navarro led Ringwood with 11. Medford advances to play Burlington in today’s 8:20 p.m. nightcap after the top-seeded Elks thrashed bottom seed Lomega 47-17 on Thursday.  Ringwood plays Lomega at 3 p.m. in the consolation semifinals.
