Plainsmen fall to Storm

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — The Enid Plainsmen were held to their second-lowest scoring output of the season in a 60-41 loss to the home-schooled OKC Storm Friday at the Mid-Del Holiday Tournament.

Raeshaan Finley scored 11 points for Enid and reserve forward Corey Ganz added a career-high seven, but the Plainsmen couldn’t overcome a 27-17 halftime deficit after scoring as many in the first half Friday as they did in the first quarter Thursday against Midwest City.

The OKC Storm opened the third quarter with three straight baskets to lead 33-17, and Enid couldn’t score enough to close a gap widened when the Plainsmen switched to man-to-man pressure.

“You can’t give up 60,” said Enid coach Ryan Wilkinson. “If you’re giving up 60 in high school basketball, you’re gonna lose a lot of those games. All the games we’ve been in, they’ve been in the 50s, so we’ve got to get better defensively.”

Enid (0-7) plays its final game in the tournament at 10:30 a.m. today against 5A No. 11 Guthrie. Enid beat the Bluejays 51-49 on Dec. 3 in the team’s final scrimmage before the regular season.
