ENID, Okla. — Six days after running in the state Class 6A cross country meet, Garrett Wallce will be competing for the Enid boys swim team tonight when the Plainsmen and Pacers host Putnam City North at 5 p.m. at the Denny Price Family YMCA swim complex.

Wallace will be joined by two cross country teammates — Jake Taylor and Nate House. Caleb Sturgeon will be competing for the first time this season as well.

Wallace had been coming in to swim two to three mornings a week during cross country.

“He’s real focused,’’ said Enid coach Ginny Shipley. “I think that showed in his times in cross country. He was running a lot better times. If we could get everybody to do that (early morning workout), it would be awesome.’’

EHS will be without Michael Johnson, who will be at a voice competition in Texas.

Christy McMeans, who missed the Harrah meet because of the state student council convention, will be making her season debut for the Pacers.

She will swim the freestyle leg on the 200-yard medley relay with Sarah Nazari doing the butterfly, Hunter McEachern the breaststroke and Destiny Turner the backstroke. EHS won the event at Harrah with a time of two minutes and 8.76 seconds.

McEachern (50 and 100 free) and Nazari (100 back and 200 IM) will be swimming the events they won at Harrah.

Johnson will be replaced on the Plainsmen relays by Jeremy Swan in the 400 relay and Wallace  in the medley relay. Gabe Sanchez, Charley Laws and Tanner Owings will swim the other legs of those two relays.
