ENID, Okla. — Chelf named to OCA

Girls All-State team

After earning All-State honors from the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association last month, Enid senior Courtney Chelf added the same nod from the Oklahoma Coaches Association, which released its girls All-State team Friday.

Chelf, who was named to the Large West team, leads a local list of OCA All-State girls that also includes Fairview’s Olivia Mason and Kingfisher’s Kortney Meat, who made the Small West roster. Fairview coach Mike Barton, last year’s Enid News & Eagle All-Northwest girls coach of the year, was named the 2013 OCA Small West coach of the year.

Forgan’s Jake Regier, Crescent’s John Moon and Laverne’s Seth Overstreet were among those named to the boys’ Small West OCA All-State team that was announced earlier this week.

The girls OCA All-State games, which pits two small teams against one another as well as the two large teams, are scheduled for July 31 at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center. The boys games are slated for Aug. 1.

for district twinbill

Enid will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today at Sand Springs. The Plainsmen were originally scheduled to play the Sandites today in a single game, but will now play two games to make up for the weather-related postponement of Friday’s scheduled home game against Sand Springs.

Today’s games will be the first action for the Plainsmen since their March 26 loss to Yukon in the championship game of the Gladys Winters Tournament. Weather also washed out their scheduled game Thursday at Edmond Memorial.
