ENID, Okla. —
Northern Oklahoma College Enid sports teams got a bit of new identity Tuesday when a new school logo was unveiled at a luncheon at the Gantz Student Center.
The new logo has JETS in all caps with a jet plane flying below it. It was an accumulation of a joint project with Peterson Ray and Co., that started in October.
“Here’s the brand that will take NOC Enid to the next level,’’ said NOC Enid athletic director and baseball coach Raydon Leaton.
Basketball players Connor Brooks and Jeremy Espinoza did the honors to the appaulse of a capacity crowd.
“I love it,’’ said Leaton after the ceremony. “We have spent a lot of time on it moving forward for the future.’’
The new logo offers a variety of options, Leaton said. Red and black remain as the school colors. Various shades of those colors and gray will appear on uniforms and other school items.
The new logos will start appearing on uniforms next season, Leaton said.
“We wanted a logo that we could tweak and design,’’ Leaton said. “I think it’s going to be an exciting part of our future.’’
NOC Tonkawa will unveil its new athletic logo next week.
Leaton said the committee was challenged to design logos that were unique for both campuses.
“We’re thrilled about this new development in athletics,’’ said NOC president Cheryl Evans.
The logo, she said, will create an instant recognition with students, alumni and the Enid community.
“The logo is unique with the Enid campus,’’ she said. “We’re looking forward to seeing a new identity. It gives us a polished look and a lot of pride. A lot of work went into the project.’’
Sheri Snyder, branding committee chairwoman and NOC vice president for development and community relations, said the new logo will allow the school to move forward recognition- wise. Snyder and Leaton both said the logo was a result of survey suggestions from students, alumni and citizens.ÿ
