IRVING, Texas —
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones plays his final collegiate game tonight in the AT&T Cotton Bowl against Texas A&M.
Jones is 3-0 in his first three bowl games, throwing for 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns in wins over Stanford (2009 Sun Bowl), Connecticut (2010 Fiesta Bowl) and Iowa (2011 Insight Bowl).
The Sooners quarterback has a passer rating of 145.42 in those three bowl games, which is only slightly better than his career passer rating of 141.9.
The difference in those games has been OU’s ability to give opposing quarterbacks fits in bowl games. In those last three bowl wins the Cardinal, Huskies and Hawkeyes had passer ratings of 91.15. The Sooners have given up 552 passing yards, a 49-percent competition percentage (50-for-102) two passing touchdowns, while picking off five passes.
It’s doubtful OU will have that kind success tonight. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has a passer rating of 155.85. However, the Sooners have proven they can harass quarterbacks in the last three bowl games.
