ENID, Okla. —
Ally Lewis beat Sapulpa with her arm and bat in Enid’s 8-1 District 6A-4 victory over the Chieftains Thursday at Pacer Field.
Lewis struck out seven, walked only two and was 2-for-4 at the plate as the Pacers raised their record to 8-15 overall and 3-7 in the district.
“That was a big win,’’ said Enid coach Marsha Cusack. “I hope this is a confidence builder. Everybody is in good spirits and figuring out what their role is.’’
Sapulpa scored its only run in the fourth. Lewis allowed only five hits and Enid did not commit an error.
“Ally kept coming at them,’’ Cusack said. “We made some great plays behind her and we swung the bats.’’
The Pacers had 12 hits, scoring three runs in the first, two in the fourth and sixth and one in the third.
Jade McAlister was three-for-four with two RBI. Abby Lee was 2-for-4. Brooke Sears was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Shelley Mueller, Haven Bay and McKayla Herbst were all one-for-four with an RBI. Keara Jenkins was 1-for-3.
The Pacers will return to district play Tuesday when they host Owasso.
“We need to build on this,’’ Cusack said. “We need to be in that fifth or sixth hole (in district) to give us the best regional to go to.’’
The win broke a three-game Enid losing streak.
It was the Pacers’ highest scoring output since beating Midwest City 16-5 on Aug. 27.
