HESSTON, Kan.. —
Ben Berry had 22 points as the NOC Enid men broke a three-game losing streak with a 135-67 rout of Tabor College JV Friday at the Hesston Classic.
The Lady Jets had three in double figures — Breck Clark with 25, Rylie Swanson with 16 and Kori Fast with 10 in beating the Tabor women 86-72.
Berry was joined in double figures by Josh Palmer with 18, Daryck Jones and Ja’wan Smith with 17, John Lazenby with 15 and Lucas Morales with 10 as NOC Enid (7-3 overall) had its highest scoring game of the season.
It was the fourth time this year the Jets had gone over 100 points. They led 62-34 at halftime.
“It was good to see us play this well the day after Thanksgiving, we weren’t for sure how that would work out,’’ Jets assistant Drew Bridges said. “One of the things we wanted to emphasize was not watch the scoreboard and play hard no matter what. We got up early and continued to play hard.’’
In the women’s game, the Lady Jets raced out to a 46-29 halftime lead and were able to empty their bench in winning their fourth straight game. They are 7-3 overall.
“It was good to play a team like that,’’ NOC Enid coach Scott Morris said. “They are a disciplined team —. the kind of team you can work on some things against and get people in the game, yet be challenged.’’
Swanson scored NOC Enid’s first six points. Clark had 18 at halftime.
“I can’t say enough about their leadership,’’ Morris said.
Fast, a Fairview sophomore, saw her first extensive action of the season after missing most of the first half of the season with a shoulder injury.
“She looked real good,’’ Morris said. “She made an impact.’’
Both teams will play Central Nebraska today in the final day of the Classic. The Lady Jets play at 2 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m.
