Alva, Chisholm advance in girls bracket
The Alva Ladybugs, like their boys counterpart, had no trouble with Guymon in the opening round, routing No. 18 (5A) Guymon 63-35 as Jaden Hobbs scored 21 points and Lora Riley added 14 for the No. 2-ranked (3A) Ladybugs.
Alva stormed out to a 22-4 first-quarter lead and never trailed to improve to 10-0.
The Ladybugs will meet host Chisholm in the girls winners bracket semifinals at 6:30 p.m. after the Lady Longhorns crushed Blackwell 65-40 in their opening round game on Thursday, blitzing the Lady Marrons 22-4 in the fourth quarter with the help of four players — Nicole Middleton (13), Kaylee Petersen (13), Megan Galusha (11) and Emily Raynor (10) — in double figures.
Blackwell will face Guymon at 1:10 p.m. today in the consolation bracket. Joining Alva and Chisholm in the girls winners bracket will be Kingfisher and Fairview.
Kingfisher advanced with a 54-36 victory over Perry.
Hailey Matthews (18 points) and Brooke Boeckman (13) both hit four three-pointers as the Lady Jackets easily advanced to the semifinals.
Madison York joined Boeckman and Matthews in double figures with 15 points. Chelsea Deterding was the lone Lady Maroon in double digits with 11 points.
Boeckman had three treys in the first period as Kingfisher raced out to a 19-8 lead and never looked back.
Kingfisher will meet Fairview at 3:50 p.m. today. Fairview advanced with a dominating 53-23 win over Pioneer to reach the semifinals, taking a 30-11 halftime lead and never looking back, easing into the second round behind 15 points from Taylor Cell and 12 from Sadie Mason. Andi Simunek led Pioneer with seven points.
Perry will play Pioneer in the consolation bracket at 10:30 a.m.
