Football playoffs clearer

Northwest Oklahoma’s playoff picture is coming into focus. Here’s a district-by-district look.



District B-1: Garber (8-0) is first, Canton (6-1) is second and Laverne (4-3) will be third with a win over winless Merritt Friday. Pond Creek-Hunter (4-3) and Cherokee (4-3) play for fourth Thursday. Laverne has the tiebreaker over the Panthers and Chiefs from having beaten both teams.



District A-1: Hennessey (8-0) is first and Oklahoma Bible Academy (7-1) is second. Okeene (6-2) is third with a win over Beaver (5-3). If Okeene wins, Texhoma (5-3) is fourth with a win over winless Hooker.

If Beaver and Texhoma win, the three-way tie would be broken by the Arkansas Plan. Texhoma currently has 44 points, followed by Okeene with 43 and Beaver with 10.

The most a team could gain or lose under the plan is 15 points.

If Beaver and Turpin lose and Turpin (4-4) upsets Hennessey, there’s a three-way tie for fourth. Texhoma has the tiebreaker having beaten both the Dusters and Cardinals.



District C-3: Timberlake (7-0) is the champion with a win over Deer Creek-Lamont (6-1). Seiling (6-1), with a Timberlake win, is second regardless of the outcome of its game with winless Braman.

If DCLA and Seiling win, there’s a three-way tie for first. Timberlake has 105 points under the Arkansas Plan, followed by DCLA with 89 and Seiling with 58.

Kremlin-Hillsdale and Covington-Douglas, both 4-3, will play for fourth.



District 2A-1: Heritage Hall (5-1) is first with a win over St. Mary’s (2-4). Kingfisher (5-1) can do no worse than second with a win over Newkirk (4-2). Heritage Hall has the tiebreaker over Kingfisher.

Newkirk is in the playoffs regardless of the outcome of its game with Kingfisher because it has the tiebreaker over John Marshall and Perry (3-3). If Newkirk loses to Kingfisher, John Marshall is third with a win over Perry.

Perry is in the playoffs with a win over John Marshall.

If Heritage Hall and Kingfisher lose and John Marshall wins, there’s a four-way tie for first. Heritage Hall has 63 points under the Arkansas Plan, followed by Kingfisher with 52, John Marshall with 48 and Newkirk with 0.

The Kingfisher-Newkirk winner is second if Heritage Hall wins and John Marshall loses to Perry. The loser would be third.



District A-2: Cashion (7-0) is first, Watonga (6-1) is second and the Luther (4-3) and Oklahoma Christian School (5-2) winner is third. The Luther-OCS loser is fourth. Luther has a tiebreaker over Christian Heritage (4-4).



District C-1: Shattuck is first. Boise City (6-1) is second with a win over Forgan (5-2). A Forgan win and a Waynoka (5-2) win over winless Balko would force a three-way tie for second.

Boise City has 64 points on the Arkansas Plan, followed by Forgan with 52 and Waynoka with 43.
