Tobin Mateychick registered perhaps his finest pitching performance of the season, tossing eight complete shutout innings in the Enid Majors' 10-0 run-rule victory over rival Bartlesville Saturday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
One night after being out-hit 14-6 by the Indians in a 6-3 loss, the Majors turned the tables Saturday, out hitting the visitors 15-2..
Dylan Nave had a pair of doubles and scored three times. Seth Floyd finished 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
The Majors, who split the weekend series, face Burkburnett, Texas, at 7 p.m. Monday at the downtown ballpark. Enid hosts the Fourth of July Tournament July 2-4.
With Mateychick firmly in control of the game, the Majors' offense broke loose for four runs in the third — all of them coming home with two outs.
An Eddie Cervantes sacrifice fly brought home Nave, who led off the inning with a double. Floyd followed with a single to bring home Tom Ward from second base. Following a Zach Sell single, Jordan Magee smacked a single to left to score Floyd. Zach Gonzalez capped the inning with a single to bring home Sell.
Bartlesville threatened with runners on second and third in the fourth inning, but Mateychick struck out Michael Morris to end the threat. From that point forward, Mateychick didn't allow another hit.
The Majors added another run in the fourth and five more in the eighth to end the game. Six consecutive hitters managed hits against Bartlesville reliever Drew Anthony in the final inning, ending with a Sell single to right field which scored Cervantes to end the game.
Mateychick struck out eight and walked only two. Bartlesville starter Jerred Woody took the loss, allowing nine hits and five earned runs. Reliever Zach Johnson didn't allow a hit in three innings, but he was pulled after walking Aaron Roberts to lead off the eighth.
