ENID, Okla. — Every day Scott and Sally Van Krevelen give of themselves to help the Enid community.

The Van Krevelens own Stepping Stones and Van’s House in Enid. Stepping Stones is a probation company, and Van’s House is a sober living facility.

Stepping Stones and Van’s House are housed at the same facility and are there to provide help for those who are struggling with drug or alcohol addiction.

“Our program lasts for a year,” said Sally Van Krevelen. “They all work and pay rent to stay here.”

Van’s House is a safe place for people suffering from addiction to find a community of support and access to treatment.

Van Krevelen and her husband started the facility to help others who are in the same situation they both once found themselves in.

“We’re both in recovery,” said Van Krevelen. “I’ve got 30 years and (Scott) has 28 of being clean and sober.”

The Van Krevelens are both certified counselors with a heart for helping people overcome the obstacle of addiction.

Van Krevelen said many treatment facilities only treat for 30 days, and she believes treatment needs to last longer. That is why they developed their year-long treatment program.

“We believe that treatment works,” said Van Krevelen. “We believe that addicts can get their lives back.”

Van Krevelen said through spiritual awareness and hard work, addicts can recover and have successful lives.

Those who go through treatment at Van’s House do so voluntarily. Van Krevelen said the number of people in the program is usually lower in the summer months, but during the winter there are usually 14-16 in the men’s house and about six in the women’s house.

Main Street Alcoholics Anonymous is also hosted at the Van’s House location, with meetings five days a week at noon and seven days a week at 7 p.m.

Van’s House is a privately funded center with the goal helping those who want to stay clean and sober do so successfully.
