Oakwood Mall management is excited about upcoming prospects for the mall with new stores and events in the works.
Kelly Goodwin, general manager, said they are working to entice several businesses into the mall.
“We have two big box tenants that should be coming to the mall this year. We are always trying to recruit to Oakwood. A lot of it is done through our Dallas office (the mall is a J. Herzog & Sons venture), but we do try to recruit Oklahoma businesses from places like Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Stillwater,” Goodwin said.
Independent local businesses being courted by Oakwood include Pak-A-Sak, a local icon that lost its home by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center last year.
The mall soon will have a pizza place again, as well.
“Sabarros went out recently, but it was sold and will be reopening as a new pizza establishment soon,” Goodwin said.
While Goodwin looks to the future, newly added stores include Chen Garden, Angel Delight and Factory Connection.
“Chen Garden is the largest restaurant in Enid. Angel Delight moved and opened this location. It has been quite sucessful. Factory Connection has been a great addittion to the mall. It is one of the busiest stores in the mall,” she said .
Goodwin said prospects are positive.
“Christmas sales were good, consumer spending is up and customer count it up. The economy seems to be up,” she said.
The mall also is planning to continue to participate in community-based events such as a health fair and art project displays for local schools in the coming year.
