In November 2009, a group of marketing and communication professionals gathered to see if there was interest in forming a long-term group to help improve the skills in their fields.
Not long after that meeting, Inspire Greater Enid was formed.
Inspire Greater Enid is an organization that has a mission to bring together professionals in marketing and communications fields and provide them resources, information, training and professional marketing.
The organization meets every other month at Autry Technology Center, said Sara Habibi, secretary for Inspire Greater Enid.
Inspire Greater Enid has five board members: Melissa Baker is president, Lisa Powell is president-elect, Habibi is secretary, Jason Turnbow is treasurer and Jessica Andrew is board member at large.
During meetings, Inspire Greater Enid usually invites different people to speak about marketing or other communication-related topics.
“We learn about different marketing strategies and tactics,” Habibi said. “We learn how other people do things.”
Melissa Baker, president of Inspire Greater Enid, said a wide range of professionals are members, from members of the media all the way to graphic designers.
“Topics (during meetings) include customer service, social media, public relations, branding and design,” Baker said.
Baker said there are about 80 people who are members of Inspire Greater Enid. About 50 people regularly come to the group’s meetings. But membership is growing, she said.
“We’re attracting people who have a lot of different interests,” she said.
People who are interested in joining Inspire Greater Enid can go to the organization’s website, www.inspiregreaterenid .com, and fill out a membership application.
The corporate membership fee is $125 which is for two people, and an additional person is $50. The membership fee for individuals is $75. People who become members of Inspire Greater Enid also receive a membership directory that helps members of the organization network.
