Enid News & Eagle
Are you ready for some football?
Across northwest Oklahoma, players and fans sure are, and a few area teams get a jump-start on the season tonight.
Locally, Chisholm hosts Oklahoma Bible Academy in what’s turned into a competitive rivalry. And, Pond Creek-Hunter hosts Deer Creek-Lamont in a matchup of eight-man powers. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
The rest of the teams will kickoff Friday night, the traditional high school game night.
The first game of the season always is highly anticipated, by players and fans. Everyone has a clean slate and enthusiasm and hopes are running high.
At the News & Eagle, we’re geared up for the season and our coverage, too. High school football is a busy time, but that’s how we like it.
Subscribers to the newspaper found a copy of our new high school football magazine in their papers today. “Kickoff 2013” is a full-color, glossy magazine detailing all of the football teams in northwest Oklahoma.
In its 80-plus pages, the magazine includes profiles of all the teams and schedules. It’s a must-have for any high school football fan.
If you aren’t a subscriber, you haven’t missed out. Anyone who wants a copy of the magazine, or an extra copy to keep, can purchase one at the News & Eagle office, 227 W. Broadway. The cost is $5.
Football is here. We wish all the teams the best of luck as they start their campaigns to claim the gold ball symbolizing a state championship.
Not every team can win, but we know everyone will play hard and play fairly. We also hope fans keep things in perspective. Remember, these are high school kids out there, not professionals.
Most importantly, we urge you to get out and support your local team. The players, coaches, cheerleaders and bands have been working hard to get ready. They deserve your support.
