ENID, Okla. — THE WORLD’S SEVEN WONDERS AS LISTED BY WILL ROGERS

ROANOKE, Va., Jan. 31, 1927. – Am down in Old Virginia, the mother of Presidents when we thought Presidents had to be aristocrats. Since we got wise to the limitations of aristocrats, Virginia has featured their ham over their Presidential timber.

Visited their Natural Bridge today, the first of the seven wonders of the world. Niagara and the Grand Canyon are a couple more. Italy’s poor marksmanship is one. Faith in prohibition enforcement is another, Claremore (Okla.) radium water and last and greatest the Democratic eternal hope.

The Mayor.

ROGERS’S IDEA OF CONFERENCES, PARTICULARLY ON DISARMAMENT

RALEIGH, N. C., Feb. 1, 1927. – Had a visit today at the home of ex-Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels. He had all the photographs of our navy, when we had a navy.

Wars don’t diminish our navy. It’s peace that’s so devastating. When we were attacked by the disarmament conference we had even our lifeboats shot from under us.

Other nations were anxious to confer when we were building ahead of them, but now they are ahead, so why should they confer?

The Mayor.

P. S. – Congress ought to pass a law to prohibit us conferring with anybody on anything, till we learn how.

WILL ROGERS FINDS FLORIDA, LIKE DEMPSEY, STILL POPULAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 2, 1927. – You know Dempsey never was as popular as he was after he had lost the championship. Well, that’s just the way with Florida.

And, like Dempsey, they still got the same things that made ’em great, one time. The panic weeded the punks out; all the regulars are down here as usual.

You know it’s a pleasure to meet these people when they haven’t got a map in their hands. Now they are trying to please you instead of sell you.

A Mayor.

From a Couple of States that Can Afford to be Generous.

ROGERS MEETS MR. ROCKEFELLER AND COMES OUT 20 CENTS AHEAD

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 3, 1927. – Had breakfast this morning with John D. Rockefeller, for which I received a fine breakfast and a brand new dime. Went out with him and watched him play eight holes of golf, for which I received another dime.

Made 20 cents clear. Received more jokes from him than I gave, as he is certainly keen and has a great sense of humor.

Had a very pleasant morning and would have stayed longer, but he run out of dimes. I am trying to get him to come to California for his second hundred years.

Who else will give me a dime to eat with them?

The Mayor.
